Aureus Archernar, SC "River"
Pedigree
Aureus Archernar, SC 5/28/00 - 12/20/07
River came to live with me in Arizona in October of 2000. I had fallen in love with his dam, Latte` the previous year, and was thrilled when she whelped her first litter of puppies shortly after I graduated from veterinary school. From the moment that River set foot in Arizona he was a remarkable dog. He had a wonderful, sweet, outgoing personality. The most common comment heard about River was "He was the first borzoi that I ever actually liked."
River was bred by Nancy James and Pat Murphy of Oaklara borzoi. River is the nephew of Pat's very successful dog Ch. Oaklara Espresso, and son of the multiple speciality winner Ch. Oaklara Shadow Dancer.
When I got River I did not know much about the dog show world, so I was never able to show him successfully in the conformation ring. He did love to lure course, and easily obtained his AKC JC and SC. Unfortunately he quickly learned to cheat, but not before earning 2 5pt majors in tough California competition.
River moved to IL with me in 2004, and enjoyed making new friends, going to work, and doing some lure coursing here in the Mid-West.
River passed away in December 2007, a victim of Carcinoma of the lung. He still holds a special place in my heart and I will always miss my red, grinning boy.
